I finally arrived in Boston Yesterday, after a 5 hour train ride from New York. This morning I woke up and went for breakfast, then crawled back into bed for 2 more hours of sleep… I think I underestimated how jet lag would affect me.
I emerged again at around midday, and took a walk down Boylston St.
The atmosphere everywhere was amazing. There is security and police everywhere. Bag checks were conducted at the entrance yo the race expo, and many other stores.
I was also excited to meet Kathrine Switzee at the Skirt Sports stand- she been working on a line of clothing with them, called “261 fearless”, aimed at empowering women.
If you don’t know who she is, read here: https://marathonbarbie.com/2013/05/29/kathrine-switzer-trailblazer-for-womens-running/
I also stocked up on GU, registered for the Disney marathon, and bought 2 new pairs of shoes. Clearly I am demonstrating a high level of restraint.
After that, it was off to the free pasta party at City Hall. The line was very long, and took over an hour to reach the front. When I did, there was free pasta, salads, bread and beer for all the runners. We also left with a bag of Easter chocolate.
Now it’s time to turn in for the night… ‘Marathon Monday is not far away now!
